Blessings in a Backpack:
Fighting Childhood Hunger
Food insecurity affects one in five children in the U.S., impacting their health, development, and academic success. These children live in communities across the country and need our support.
About Blessings in a Backpack
- Mission: Blessings in a Backpack is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing food on the weekends to school-aged children who might otherwise go hungry.
- Impact: During the 2022–2023 school year, over 3.3 million bags of ready-to-eat food were distributed to children at 1,270 schools nationwide.
- Why It Matters: Hunger affects more than just a child's physical health; it can lead to weakened immunity, increased hospital visits, lower IQ, and diminished academic performance.
How We Make a Difference
- Weekend Meals: Millions of children rely on school meals during the week, but face a 65-hour gap without access to food when school is closed. Blessings in a Backpack bridges this gap with nutritious, ready-to-eat food.
- Community Support: The program is powered by volunteers, donors, and partners committed to reducing childhood hunger.
Your Role
- Giving Tuesday: Join us on December 3, 2024, to make an impact.
- Get Involved: Your donations and volunteer efforts can help ensure children have the nourishment they need for a healthier, brighter future.
Together, we can help fight childhood hunger and support the well-being of the next generation.
